Amelie: 14 months

I used to LOVE blogging... when I had the time. However, this year I want to MAKE time for things that are important (besides school, internship, and other duties). I want Amelie to have something she can look back at, as well as her family and friends, to enjoy and reminisce on her journey as well as ours, as new parents! So, I hope you like this mama, we love you!

Age: 14 Months
Stats: 26.14 lbs., 32 1/4 inches, head circumference: 19 inches. She's pretty much above the 90th percentile, and her doctor says she is great!
Clothes: Wearing size 18m-24m. Can't wait to see if she will be interested in sports! She loves leggings and loves to pick out her own shoes...

Amelie at her 14 month check-up (pre-vaccines).

Favorite Foods: Absolutely LOVES bananas and says "Ba-na." She loves Earth's Best concoctions, but prefers her Abuela Cuca's homemade purees of all kinds of veggies and proteins. (Still trying to figure out how to get her to eat more solids). She loves her "Puh" (puffs) and knows what the containers look like, so we have to hide them!
Favorite Words: Doda (Dora), Dada, Mama, Wow, Cuco (she has been saying her Abuelo Cuco's name non-stop lately), Cuca, Coco, Ta-da (her Abuelo), and she loves mimicking our laughs! She knows how to make the animal noises for: (in Spanish) vaca, gallo, pato, perro, gato, serpiente, tortuga (turtle turtle turtle!), and ! She calls her baby "nene" and picks it up when we ask her where she is.

My little family, at the Miami Zoo!

Favorite Activities: She loved going to the zoo and pretty much called everything a wao-wao (dog noise in Spanish). She had SO much fun feeding the giraffes! (video here) She loves going to the store with us and sitting in the cart! Playing in her Dora the Explorer Tent, specially when we say "Donde esta la niña?!" (Where is the baby?) and she pops out, saying "Ahh!" Picking up books and giving them to us to read to her. Signing along to "Itsy bitsy spider" and clapping, saying "Yayyy!" when the song is over. She loves the story of the three pigs and the wolf, in Spanish. She makes the funniest noise when you ask her how the little pigs ran and blows (huffs and puffs) when you talk about "el lobo" (the wolf). Putting the tops on things. Putting her sippy cup or bottle in the holder on her stroller. Going for stroller rides, specially seeing "duh"/"quack quack" (ducks) at the park. She is at the biting stage, so when she is tired she will bite anything and anyone. She seems to learn the most when she is being fed, so we try to teach her little things here and there. She knows the parts of her face and says "three" and "tre-" when you count 1, 2.

Least Favorite Activities: Doesn't like getting changed or being on the changing table for that matter, unless she wants to. (?!) She pretty much dislikes everything when she is VERY tired, and at that point everyone knows she needs to sleep!

Mom's Proudest Moment: She has full on "mamitis" so I am enjoying the obsession while it lasts!
Dad's Proudest Moment: She still draws to her "dada" a lot. She calls him when he is not around and loves giving him kisses!

Other Milestones: Amelie can understand full sentences and things we say to her. She does things we ask her to do sometimes, and it totally blows our minds! She gets you coffee and water from her kitchen set when you ask her for some. She also brings you food and makes noises for eating and drinking. She is very maternal and loves her baby dolls. Her walking has gotten much better and she tries to run sometimes. (Hilarious!) She blows "besitos" (kisses) and just recently blew one with her hand to her Abueli Marti! She has reduced her two naps to just one, on most days, and sleeps through the night as always. She is teething like crazy so she will wake up and sleep with us... this will HOPEFULLY change once we are in the new place and she has her own room! She also bit a boy in the nursery at church a couple of Sundays ago. We felt terrible and probably apologized a thousand times to the boy and his mother... we've got a biter! Everyone laughed and said it happened and to not worry, but we still felt so bad!!
